The Michigan Office of Defense and Aerospace Innovation is an operation of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation focused on the support, protection and growth of Michigan ’s defense and homeland security missions and the Michigan businesses that support our nation’s security and our military ’s safety.

The Michigan Office of Defense and Aerospace Innovation is the State of Michigan’s lead voice on the defense and homeland security economy and guides the state’s policies and programs to protect and grow this important sector of the economy. The ODAI acts as a liaison between the state and defense interests in the federal government, defense agencies, the defense industry, academia and the defense community and supporting organizations.

The Michigan Office of Defense and Aerospace Innovation is proud to announce these innovative tools to assist Michigan companies to protect and grow their business.

• The Bid Targeting System (BTS), which scores companies the way a federal contracting officer would, giving small and medium-sized contractors the same advantages that large primes derive from their in-house experts. BTS is an online application created by IDEACore LLC in collaboration with the Michigan Office of Defense and Aerospace Innovation. IDEACore has a rich history in software applied to defense procurement. Its QFD Designer systems engineering software was applied by DARPA/TACOM to analyze proposals and award the lead system integrator roles to Boeing and SAIC for the Army’s principal modernization program through ’09, the Future Combat System. IDEACore’s evolving analysis expertise led it to invent a powerful evaluation and matching method, which it patented. That patented method is now embedded into the BTS system, where it serves as the engine that optimizes the matching and scoring between firms and business opportunities.
